UniTech has a unique advantage in monitoring scaffolding, scrap and other material for trace amounts of radioactive contamination. UniTech designs and manufactures specialized monitors as well as the calibration and check sources required for these monitors. The sources are built using techniques, materials and equipment that control inaccuracies and non-uniformity. Monitors created by UniTech’s Health Physics and Engineering Department include: scaffold plank monitors, tube and clamp monitors, Excel® brand scaffold monitors, and respirator cartridge recertification monitors.

UniTech manufactures sources whose activity or concentration is directly traceable to the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST). NIST is recognized by the International Lab Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). Manufactured sources have a written certificate of calibration that includes the total activity and provides details of the source traceability to NIST. Sources are manufactured to provide calibration and daily instrument source checks for UniTech specialized monitors.
